Iryna Bilyk

The singer, the People’s Artist of Ukraine, poet, composer, and a personality, whose name has become a symbol of neo Ukrainian music.
Iryna Bilyk was born on April 6th of 1970 in Kiev, Ukraine.
Iryna began to sing at the age of 4, she composed her first song at the age of 10. After she finished a high school, the singer began to teach music to children, she had her own class.
In 1989 Iryna Bilyk became a student of Kiev State Glier’s Musical Academy, speciality – variety vocal.
In July of 1990 Iryna Bilyk with the musicians of “Ayaks” band – Yurii Nikitin, George Uchaykin and Jean Bolotov created a band “Cey doshch nadovgo”(This rain is long-lasting).
In 1992 Iryna released her first professional video clip for a song “Lyshe tvoya” (Only yours) and in 1994 she started touring through Ukraine.
In autumn of 1995 Iryna comes for the first in a history of Ukrainian pop-music concert tour “Nova” (New) which includes her first big solo show in the National Palace “Ukraine”.
In April-May of 1997 Iryna Bilyk goes for the most major nationwide concert tour of that times “Tak Prosto” (So Easy) which included 38 shows in 25 big cities of Ukraine. During the tour, on April 23rd and 24th two grand shows of Iryna Bilyk took place in the National Palace “Ukraine”, both with a sold out, what became a precedent in Ukrainian pop-music.
In the end of 1997 Iryna released her super-album “Farby” (Colours), which was sold with a number of 400 000 copies.
On the March 1st of 2000 the new album “OMA” was released. This album caused a new stage in singer’s career.
In 2001 Iryna opened for herself a new music market – Poland. In August of 2002 on a festival “Yach film” Bilyk was awarded with a prize “The honoured Yach” in a nomination “Opening of the year”. In September of 2002 the band Scorpions invites Iryna Bilyk to perform as a special guest on their show in Warsaw on a stage of central Palace of Sports “Torwar”.
On the June 6th of 2003 a new concept album of Iryna Bilyk “Bilyk. Kraina” (Bilyk. The country) was released in Ukraine, which was supported with a nationwide tour of 30 shows.
On June 7th of 2004 Iryna Bilyk released her first Russian-language album. “Lubov Yad” (Love. Poison) was sold in a number of 100 000 copies for the first 10 days of sales and became a platinum CD! This album established a new record of the CD sales, the total sale of the album was 400 000.
From October 18th until 23rd of November the great tour of Iryna Bilyk “Dopomogty tak legko” (Helping is easy) was held, all the costs gained from the tickets sale were given to help homeless children. The shows took place in 25 cities of Ukraine, two charity solo shows took place in Kiev in National Palace “Ukraine”.
In 2007 the singer took part in popular dancing TV show “Dancing with Stars – 2” on 1+1 TV channel and also went for a solo tour “My Budem Vmeste” (We will be together).
In 2008 Iryna Bilyk has got a title of People’s Artist of Ukraine, the same year in honor of 20th anniversary of her art carrier she went for a tour “20 let vmeste” (20 years together) and released a new album “Na Bis” (For Encore).
In 2009 Iryna Bilyk became a member of the show “National Star” on TRK Ukraine TV channel.
In 2010 Iryna released a duet song “Ya lublu ego” (I love him) with a singer Olga Gorbacheva. In a video clip for this song a Hollywood super star Jean Claude Van Damme was shooted. Same year Iryna Bilyk took part in a show “Star+Star” on 1+1 TV channel.
In 2011 a tour “Moya Lubov” (My love) took place in Ukraine.
